DivyangHitay Foundation is a disability-led, not-for-profit organisation committed to advancing disability inclusion and empowering persons with disabilities through information and guidance, education, advocacy, community engagement, leadership development, inclusive innovation, and sustainable livelihoods.
Our journey began on 30 April 2020 with the DivyangHitay Information & Guidance Centre for Persons with Disabilities (DIGCP), a voluntary initiative started by a small group of like-minded individuals committed to bridging information and opportunity gaps faced by persons with disabilities.
What began as a small WhatsApp community gradually evolved into a growing ecosystem through volunteers, awareness programmes, knowledge-sharing, mentoring, and collaborations with government departments, NGOs, educational institutions, and civil society organisations. Our work has focused on connecting persons with disabilities to relevant resources and opportunities while fostering collective action for meaningful inclusion.
In 2026, this journey led to the formal registration of DivyangHitay Foundation, building on the community, experience, and relationships developed through DIGCP. Today, we continue to expand our work through partnerships, inclusive programmes, international higher education guidance, community-led livelihoods, and innovative solutions to disability-related barriers.
Our journey reflects a belief that access to reliable information is the first step towards empowerment, and inclusion is a shared responsibility. Guided by a rights-based and intersectional approach, we recognise that disability experiences are shaped by factors such as caste, gender, socioeconomic background, and geography. We strive to reach persons facing multiple forms of marginalisation and create equitable pathways to education, livelihoods, leadership, participation, and dignity.
The DivyangHitay Information & Guidance Centre for Persons with Disabilities begins as a voluntary initiative to bridge information and opportunity gaps.
Community engagement, volunteers, awareness programmes, mentoring, and collaborations strengthen the initiative and expand access to information and support.
DivyangHitay Foundation is formally registered, building on DIGCP’s grassroots experience and community-led foundation.
DIGCP remains a foundation of our work as DivyangHitay Foundation develops new programmes, partnerships, and inclusive solutions across education, livelihoods, leadership, advocacy, and innovation.
Our journey is a continuing commitment to move from charity to rights, from exclusion to inclusion, and from barriers to opportunities—working towards a society where every person with a disability can exercise their rights, participate meaningfully, and realise their full potential.
To create inclusive spaces where people with and without disabilities come together to co-create solutions, foster empathy, and drive collective action—making inclusion a lived and sustainable reality.
To build a society where persons with disabilities are recognized as rights-holders and contributors—shaping the economy as taxpayers, entrepreneurs, and leaders. We aim to center those at the deepest margins, where disability intersects with caste, gender, geography, and severity, ensuring equitable and holistic development.
DivyangHitay Foundation empowers persons with disabilities through education, skill development, and sustainable livelihoods, promoting inclusion, equal opportunities, and leadership.
